MONI.CA project is an EU-funded project through the Interreg Italy-Croatia cross-border program (it is a “small-scale” project) aimed at contributing to improving the effectiveness of policy-making regarding air quality through the use of innovative technologies. The project will enable the funding of a pilot initiative for air monitoring in cities to more precisely calculate the harmful effects of air pollution on public health. This is possible thanks to the development and exploitation of intelligent and adaptable technologies for air monitoring, which include the use of drones and a glider, designed to be effective in medium to large-sized cities such as Padua and Dubrovnik, the two cities leading the initiative.

By providing decision makers with valuable data, the project enables them to proactively address sources of pollution, thus contributing to the well-being of urban populations in Italy and Croatia. This innovative approach represents a significant and game-changing innovation compared to traditional static monitoring stations, offering a cost-effective and scalable solution, necessary characteristics to address this urgent environmental and health challenge in the best possible way.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
1. To promote regional cooperation to safeguard agricultural biodiversity and foster sustainable farming practices, actively involving the local community in the regions concerned and in particular young people.
2. To implement a cross-border air monitoring pilot activity in the two regions, with the aim of preventing urban health risks by effectively tackling air pollution through smart technologies.
