GSMESKILL Project

101091883

GSMESKILL is a three-year project funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building programme. The project is dedicated to strengthening the links and coordination between vocational education and training (VET) system and local labor markets in Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa. The focus is on enhancing the capabilities of VET providers in areas such as management, governance, inclusion, quality assurance, innovation, and internationalization.

In Sub-Saharan Africa, the EU recognizes the critical role of entrepreneurship ans SMEs in driving economic growth and creating jobs. However, the region’s TVET system often lack practical relevance and fail to align with the needs of the labor market. Additionally, the prevailing delivery methods in formal VET do not effectively prepare learners for the informal economy, as they tend to focus on formal qualifications rather than adapting to specific skill requirements.

GSMESKILL project aims to address these challenges by:

– Improving the functionality and empowerment of VET providers.
– Enhancing the competence, skills, and employability of VET learners.
– Advancing the knowledge and skills of VET teachers and trainers.
– Raising awareness among institutional actors about the crucial linkage between the labor market and VET systems.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

1. Improving and empowering VET providers in the fields of management, governance, inclusion, quality assurance, innovation and internationalization.
2. Increasing the levels of competences, skills and employability potential of VET learners.
